Victoria Sparks

Qualifications and training

I started working with homeless people in 2003 in a supported housing scheme, I gained a mental health city and guilds certificate and went on to set up a supported housing scheme for people with mental health issue and substance misuse (dual diagnosis). I then moved on to work in the drug and alcohol sector with prolific offenders and prisoners on a resettlement programme. I have extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system, legal issues and alcohol/substance misuse.

I have experience through this work of also working with domestic violence perpetrators and victims. I have experience of supporting families as well as single people with homelessness and addiction.

I have a years’ experience of working with young people in an alternative education settling supporting them with emotional issues and delivering substance misuse training programmes.

I have extensive experience of ADHD and the issues surrounding it for the child and all family members.

I have an interest in trauma and the link to obesity. My approach is integrative and will examine parts of your past experiences to see if they are having an effect on the client’s present life. I particularly like Gestalt theory and will explore the whole person in a holistic way.
