Qualifications and training

  • I am a student member of the BACP in the final year of my studies towards an MSc in Therapeutic counselling. My training is integrative, which means that I use different techniques and theories within our work. I feel that people are too complex for just 1 way of thinking or working. Clarkson’s five relationships model of counselling focuses on the importance of our relationship as counsellor and client.
  • Working in line with the BACP ethical guidelines puts certain things, like your autonomy, in the forefront of our work. This means that the way I will work will not be to advise you on what to do, although we can work together to explore feelings and thoughts around events in the past and decisions in the future.
