Self Horizons Counselling
Anxiety is a normal response to a range of different situations. It can start to have a damaging effect when you feel anxious everyday or can’t remember the last time you relaxed. Anxiety comes from our fight/ flight response. This happens when our bodies feel like they are in danger. We can habitually go on to perceive different situations as ‘dangerous’ when they are not. This is when we can become anxious.
Anxiety can show itself physically with symptoms such as increased heart rate, muscle tension, sleeplessness or wanting to use the toilet more often. These feelings can interfere with your life and cause distress.
Counselling can help you to understand what particular areas in your life are causing your anxiety and to look at the steps to address it. Are there any triggers or perhaps unhelpful thinking patterns that have emerged? A counsellor can help you to learn to cope with your anxiety.
If you think you might be experiencing anxiety yourself, please get in touch with us. One of our counsellors will make a time to meet with you and find the best way to support you.
